Local Bands Las Vegas

I have lived in Las Vegas for over twenty years, and watched it grow at a very fast pace. Along with that growth something unexpected has happened. A thriving coummunity of local musicians has taken root. A community that fosters support for each other. Something I've not seen nor heard about in many other places.

Las Vegas is a little different than other cities, where musicians congregate hoping to "Land That Contract" or "Pay to Play". Here, we have a lot of casino and big name shows in town, with the artists coming from out of town. So, it's hard to get that break with all these other huge names in and out of the city.

One of the benefits of these big shows, is that a lot of those shows need local musicians to support their productions. Those musicians then join with the hundreds of other local musicians to form combinations of talent you'll rarely see as a tourist. They are a very tight group, supporting each other because of their talents, not success.

Even with all these casinos and shows in town, the local population need local places to go. Most can't afford the big ticket prices of the big shows week after week, so we have a lot of local venues that are thriving. These local venues book a lot of the local bands from Las Vegas. We also have casino's that host local bands in their venues.

So we end up with, thousands of musicians, hundreds of bands, hundreds of venues, a huge population, and me.

Some of you may know me from the videos I take of some of the local bands in Las Vegas. You can see them on YouTube. Some know me from a lot of the events in town, or my association to one of the top local bands. I think everyone knows I'm a computer geek, and retired.

Thing is,,, I can't stop coding. Been doing it for 40 years.

So that's when I decided to start this site. To have one location where anyone can go to find information on local bands, events and venues. It will be database driven, so that once I write the code, all I need to worry about is keeping the data current. I'll also be linking to videos and downloaded music, using dynamic music and video players, customized to your filters.

I'm starting with a list of about 200 bands, that I got from local artist Ang Kerfoot. A couple of months ago she sent a facebook post out asking for local names. The response was astounding. I entered them all onto the site.

With everyones help, I hope to account for any and every local band or musician that wants to be part of this effort.
